You may have seen the Bioheat logo on some of our W.H. Riley & Son promotional materials. You may also have seen our green Bioheat truck, which stands out from all the red trucks in our fleet. You may have no idea what Bioheat is. Perhaps you may think it’s just good for the environment.
Actually, Bioheat is good for your heating system, your home – and your wallet. And W.H. Riley & Son uses only Bioheat for its oil customers.
One of the biggest transitions in heating oil in recent years has been the move toward ultra-low sulfur heating oil. Bioheat is a blend of heating oil and renewable materials like vegetable oils that integrates seamlessly with all heating oil systems. In short, no changes to your boiler or furnace are necessary.
Here’s how Bioheat helps you:
- A buildup of sulfur in a boiler or furnace can lead to system maintenance issues. The drastic reduction of sulfur in Bioheat means that there will be far fewer system issues, which will lead to lower maintenance costs for W.H. Riley customers.
- Because there is virtually no sulfur in the heating system thanks to Bioheat, your oil heating system can burn the fuel more efficiently, leading to lower heating bills.
- Bioheat works exceptionally well with the new generation of compact, super-efficient boilers and furnaces that drastically increase fuel efficiency and reduce consumption.
H. Riley has been in the heating business for nearly 150 years, offering its first customers coal and coke, and later oil and propane. We’re confident heating fuels will continue to evolve to best serve our customers for another century and a half.
