How Efficient Are Propane Appliances?
A look at how well they work
Many of us appreciate the well-known saying “work smarter, not harder”. We enjoy things and systems that make our lives easier and more convenient, increase our productivity without necessarily having to put extra effort it and, of course, it is always a win when we find something that saves us money in one way or another. A propane appliance can accomplish pretty much all of this.
Propane’s efficiency
Propane appliances are known to be incredibly efficient. They can do all the same things that electric appliances can do, but they are typically able to do so in a shorter amount of time. In fact, propane has an efficiency rating of about 95%!
Here is a glimpse at just how efficient a propane appliance is:
- A water heater that is powered by propane makes about double the amount of hot water than an electric water heater does in the same exact amount of time. Additionally, propane water heaters are able to provide your home with hot water on demand – there’s no need to wait for your water tank to heat up.
- Clothes dryers that are powered by propane work about 25% faster than dryers that depend on electricity do (plus they reduce static and wrinkles!)
- When using propane for heating purposes you can typically get a room to the temperature you want in about 45 minutes. If you were to use an electric heating system, achieving this same temperature would take about two hours!
- Unlike electric forklifts that slow down as their batteries die, propane-powered forklifts work at peak efficiency levels until their propane cylinders are completely empty.
Propane’s efficiency helps propane customers save both time and money. Plus, there really is no limit to how many propane appliances you can have throughout your home!
Additional advantages of using propane
Clearly, a propane appliance is worlds ahead of an electric appliance in terms of efficiency. However, efficiency is not the only benefit propane provides. Propane also:
- Helps its users save money on their energy bills
- Usually has better price stability when compared to other fuels
- Is non-toxic, clean burning and considered green, which makes it environmentally friendly
- Will work all throughout a blackout
- Is extremely versatile and can be used for numerous different things including heating water, homes and commercial spaces, cooking on ranges and grills, drying clothes, igniting non-wood burning fireplaces, space heaters and forklifts
- Is accessible and typically pretty easy to find and purchase
